The significance of metrology and precision engineering

The world has reached today’s high peaks in technology mainly on account of precision engineering. There are precision engineering companies that are at the forefront in the manufacture of precision products of diverse industries. ISO certified companies of the status of Precision Products Inc (PPI) have been delivering products for industries as varied as medical and automotive as well as defense and firearms besides aerospace and textiles. This has been possible mainly on account of the fact that companies such as PPI have the latest machines in CNC turning and milling besides excellent resources that include both industrial metrology and modern metallurgy.

You cannot reach the targets of precision required without the ability to measure these orders of precision. This science of measurement is known as industrial metrology. Companies such as PPI are able to deliver precision products to their customers because they have machines such as the Zeiss Contura that can scan as well as report in order to compare the part with either the original blue print or the tolerance sheet. The Zeiss and the Brown and Sharpe Mistral are both calibrated and certified to 2 microns.

Similarly, PPI has CNC turning machines such as the Hyundai CNC lathes that have the necessary capability to produce quality parts from the company’s ISO certified process. PPI has the capability of manufacturing parts of up to 20” diameter and lengths up to 37” and can offer tolerances down to +/- 0.0003”. With machines such as these PPI has been delivering precision parts since 1993 with the expertise of its fully trained staff of machinists and engineers that can design and make new parts as well as reverse engineer the existing parts you are interested in manufacturing.
